Dalhausser and Lucena ready to step up for top seeds

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 13, 2016 – USA’s Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena booked their place in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games quarterfinals with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) win over at Austria’s Alexander Huber and Robin Seidl at Copacabana Beach Arena on Saturday.

Here’s what they said after the match…

Phil Dalhausser, United States
“There is always stuff to work on and we’re going to have to play a little better than we did tonight against Alison and Bruno. They are number one seeds because they’re that good. We wanted to play Brazil in Brazil but preferably in the final, but we got our wish a little earlier and we’ve got to hope we come out with a win.

“They are the number one seeds so it will be the toughest test for us.”

Nick Lucena, United States
“They are the best defensive team and Alison is really big. They’ll serve me and I will have to find a way around him and Phil will hopefully will serve tough and make some blocks. Either way we’ll have to play better than we did tonight if we want to come out with the win. We’ll play smoother and it should be fun with all the chants and the boos.”

Alexander Huber, Austria
“I think we played well, but they really had a good game. They were ready for us and I think they were both on fire and playing really good.

“We had our chances, but if you miss one chance against them it is too much. We had one or two chances and that was it.

“I think they are favourites for the gold. They are a very good combination of block and defence. They have Phil’s serve and they are both very solid inside-out. A side will have to be at their very best to beat them.”
