Brazil's beach legends take on USA in pool A on day four

 
Rio de Janeiro, August 9, 2016 - Brazil's beach legends Talita Antunes/Larissa Franca take on Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat of the United States in a pool A match during the afternoon session of day four.  The Brazilians will be looking for their second pool win while the Americans will be looking to win their first.

Talita Antunes/Larissa Franca have won all four previous meetings against Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat, with two in pool play, both by straight sets in The Hague Grand Slam in July, 2014 and in the Gstaad Major in July, 2015.  The Brazilians also won a three-set quarterfinal match at the Porec Major in June, 2015 and a two-set quarterfinal match at the Poland Grand Slam in June of this year.

Historically the #1 seed has won all three of the meetings against the #13 seed in the Olympic Games, all in pool play.  In London (2012) and Athens (2004) the wins were in straight sets while the lower seed forced a third set in Beijing (2008).
