News Beach volleyball 12/08/2016 Bansley & Pavan safely through Pool E action Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 11, 2016 - Playing the final pool play match in the Beach Volleyball competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan secured their third-straight two-set win in group action here Thursday evening by defeating Germans Karla Borger and Britta Buthe.In the first meeting internationally between the two teams since the Canadians eliminated the Germans in the first round of elimination at the 2015 FIVB World Championships in The Netherlands, Bansley and Pavan posted a 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) win in 42 minutes over Borger and Buthe. Bansley and Pavan are now 3-2 in matches with the Germans.With the win, the Canadians did not drop a set in the competition to join Brazilians Talita Antunes/Larissa Franca of Brazil (Pool A) and Elsa Baquerizo/Liliana Fernandez of Spain (Pool B).
