Agatha lauds beach volleyball venue

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 13, 2016 – FIVB Beach Volleyball world champion Agatha Bednarczuk has called on all fans to head to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games beach volleyball arena on Copacabana beach to experience the unique atmosphere the venue has to offer.

The tournament has been one of the highlights of the Games so far, with the action set to intensify with the tournament now in the elimination phase.

“If you can, come to the arena. It’s beautiful to watch the game,” Agatha said. “The crowd is filling the arena. It’s a great atmosphere to play here.”

“And if you are watching at home, I’ll send you a kiss. Let’s cheer for all Brazilian teams. Let’s hope that everyone has a chance to grab a medal and bring joy to the Brazilian people.

Agatha and partner Barbara Seixas came through their Round of 16 match against China’s Fan Wang and Yuan Yue in straight sets and will face Russia’s Ekaterina Birlova and Evgenia Ukolova in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

“The concentration level in this game was very high. So we played consistently from the beginning,” Agatha said of the win over the Chinese pair. “From the first point, the first serve, we had our eyes on the victory. That’s why the score was so lopsided for us.

“We’re going to go with the same vibe for the next game because we know if we don’t win, we are out.”
