Hosts and defending champions Brazil together with Russia and Korea from Pool A, plus USA, Serbia, China and The Netherlands from Pool B have all claimed their tickets and it's now a matter of jostling into position to determine the quarterfinals pairings.

Italy and Puerto Rico are eliminated, though they clash on the closing day of pool play to determine who ranks 9th and who 11th.
The order of matches for the quarterfinals and semifinals will be confirmed after the draw, following consultation between the FIVB and the Rio 2016 organisers.
