Lang Ping, here celebrating the moment China beat Serbia for gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is looking at either continuing with the China national team or retiring.
Lausanne, Switzerland, November 29, 2016 - China's coaching legend Lang Ping has indicated that her options going forward after leading her country to triumph at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games are either to continue with the women's national team or to retire.
Lang Ping, 55, was speaking in an interview aired on China's CCTV News network on Monday.
The coach also acknowledged that she has declined several offers to coach for foreign teams, including Italy.
Lang Ping, 55, won a gold medal at the 1982 FIVB World Championship, before claiming the Olympic crown at Los Angeles 1984, where she was also named MVP of the competition.
After wrapping up her brilliant playing career she moved across the Pacific where she coached the women's National Team of USA to Olympic silver at the Beijing 2008 Games. She then returned to China, leading her country to gold at Rio.
Lang Ping had been taking a rest from volleyball after this year's Olympic Games and may also need some more time off to recover from a knee injury.
"I am getting older and my daughter has a job. We do not have any major pressures, so I will either continue coaching the Chinese women's volleyball team or end my career," said Lang.
