Japan’s Kimura anticipates match against Brazil

Japan's Saori Kimura says Brazil team is in their minds

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 8, 2016 – Minutes after their first victory in the Olympic tournament against Cameroon, Japan’s captain Saori Kimura was talking about their next match against hosts Brazil on Wednesday.

Masayoshi Manabe, Coach of Japan: I have some concerns about our mistakes. After losing to Korea I didn’t say a lot of things to my players except that we had more matches to play ahead and needed to improve.

Saori Kimura, Captain of Japan: I am happy for this victory but the tournament is just beginning. Our next match is against Brazil and that makes you to put your mind in that game.

Erika Araki, Player of Japan: We won in straight sets against Cameroon but we are not satisfied with our performance in the match. So we need to play better. I think we had a lot of errors in the match that allowed Cameroon to have a good run in the first set. Our condition so far is not enough to say that we will certainly get a medal so we have to focus first on improving in our next matches against Brazil and Russia.

Jean Rene Anoko, Coach of Cameroon: We are a young team and today we had problems with our reception. We battled hard in the first set but Japan is a team of world level. I think the difference was the experience but we are on the right track and just need to continue working.

Christelle Tchoudjang, Captain of Cameroon: The match against Japan was complicated, that’s why I think we lost. I think it was going well for us in the first set but then we just lost our concentration and our spirit after that. We have to be lively and have fun on the court, because this makes our game better. This makes the atmosphere in the game great.
