Japan and Argentina will play for the last ticket available for the quarterfinals of the women's volleyball tournament
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 14, 2016 – Japan and Argentina are set to battle for the last ticket available to the quarterfinals of the women’s volleyball tournament when the actions resume on Sunday at Maracanazinho Stadium of Rio de Janeiro.
Both teams recorded their lone victories against the winless Cameroon, with Japan subduing the African champions in straight sets and Argentina stretched by the Cameroonians to five thrilling and dramatic sets.
The contest for the last berth in the final-eight round will open the evening session at 20:30 local time, followed by the clash between the undefeated teams Brazil and Russia for the top place of Pool B.
Day five gets underway with a duel between the European teams of Netherlands and Serbia, currently sharing the second place with 3-1 mark, with the winners of the match gaining a shot at overcoming United States for first place in Pool B.
Puerto Rico and Italy meet at 15:00 to open the afternoon session in a match between winless sides to determine which of the two leaves Rio with the taste of one victory.
The United States, undefeated in four matches, will be looking to stick to first place in Pool B when they face the fourth placed China (2-2, 7 points) on Sunday afternoon.
