Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 11, 2016 - Italy faced little trouble in disposing of Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17) to remain undefeated at the top of men's volleyball Pool A at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Italy could mathematically claim a ticket to the quarterfinals if Brazil beat USA in the last match of the day at the Maracanazinho. Mexico remain winless after three matches.
Italy outplayed Mexico across the board and especially dominated the blocking with 11 stuffs to 3. At no point in the game did Mexico ever threaten the London 2012 bronze medallists, who led the score throughout.
Filippo Lanza was Italy's top scorer on 14 points, with Ivan Zaytsev contibuting another 11. Although he only played a set and a half, Nestor Orellana was the best scorer of Mexico with 7 points.
