Antiga pleased with players’ effort against Cuba

Poland outblocked Cuba in the last match for both teams in the preliminary phase

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 15, 2016 – Poland’s coach Stephane Antiga was satisfied by watching his players giving their best effort in a match not very difficult in preparation for the quarterfinals.

Stephane Antiga, Coach of Poland: I am happy that we played seriously in this match. Maybe it was not as important as the other matches we played. Also, it was not as difficult as the other matches, but I still wanted my players to play 100 per cent. I think all the players played well, so it’s a good preparation for the quarterfinals. There will be tougher matches ahead but we will see who will be playing next, and we will be ready.

Nicolas Vives, Coach of Cuba: Our boys went out to play hard as in every other match. Poland was better than us in every aspect of the game as the stats show. Our team is a work in progress and we need to continue working on certain parts of our game like the reception, and other aspects where we are experiencing difficulties

Michal Kubiak, Captain of Poland: Our performance was fair enough to give us a win this match in straight sets. This is the thing we came here to do and we played exactly what we wanted. We did some mistakes in serve and spike, but it was an easy game for us and we saved a lot of energy for the quarterfinals.
