Delta Despar Trentino have caught up with Imoco Volley Conegliano at the top of the standings in the Italian Women's League after three matches were played in Round 5 of the competition, Wednesday.Vittoria Piani scored 20 points in Trentino's 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) sweep at home of Bartoccini Fortinifissi Perugia. The 22-year-old opposite posted a 43% attacking efficiency (16/37) and added two aces and two blocks for her total tally.Trentino took advantage of Imoco Volley Conegliano's rest day to catch up with them at the top of the table - though the defending champions, undefeated and on full points after four matches, do have a match to spare. It was Trentino's fourth win in five matches. But two matches on Wednesday, Banca Valsabbina Millenium Brescia v Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio and Igor Gorgonzola Novara v Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo, were postponed after postive Covid-19 tests were returned for players and staff of the two visiting sides. This allowed Savino Del Bene Scandicci to stay within a point of the leaders in the standings, at 11 points from five matches. After a slow start, Scandicci stormed back to down VBC Epiu Casalmaggiore 3-1 (12-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19) at home, with Poland's Magdalena Stysiak scoring a match-high 17 points. This keeps Stysiak at the top of the overall scorers list of the League this season, on 97 points, ahead of Piani at 92, and Brazil's Rosamaria Montibeller who scored 12 for Casalmaggiore on Wednesday to reach 87.The Italian Women's League continues with Round 6 over the weekend. New dates for the postponed matches are to be determined.More information on the official website of the Italian League.Quick links:
