Confirmation of men's teams completes volleyball lineup at Rio 2016

 

All men's volleyball teams for Rio 2016 have been confirmed, as organisers tested special lighting effects at the Maracanzinho.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 4, 2016 - After the women yesterday, all the men's teams and players were confirmed eligible to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as entered by their respective National Federations and National Olympic Committees.

The confirmations followed the latest Preliminary Inquries conducted by the FIVB Control Committee at the competition venue of the Maracanazinho, ahead of the General Technical Meeting at the same location.

According to the official Olympic Games regulations teams are allowed 12 players, in contrast to most international competitions were up to 14 players can be registered.

The men's Competition opens on Sunday morning at 09:30 local time with a European classic, as London 2012 bronze medallists Italy take on reigning European champions France. A total of six matches a day are scheduled during pool play, with genders alternating by day.
