Stars of Rio: Wallace de Souza

Wallace de Souza's Brazil finished second at the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League Finals in Krakow, Poland.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 27, 2016 - Twenty-nine-year-old Wallace Leandro de Souza has bounced back in full force after a back surgery forced him to miss most of 2015, and the São Paulo native will be eyeing home glory at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

It will be de Souza’s second Olympics, after winning the silver medal with Brazil in London 2012. He has also won a silver at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship and a bronze at the 2011 FIVB World Cup. Wallace has gold medals from the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2013 South American Championship.

Playing for Sada Cruzeiro of Contagem (since 2009) he has won a gold medal at the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship following a silver in the same competition the previous year. This is in addition to domestic titles in Brazil’s Superleague in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
