Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 25, 2016 – It appears that three consecutive gold medals is not enough for the ebullient and hyper-competitive Kerri Walsh Jennings and she and April Ross will be among the favourites to claim gold on Copacabana during Rio 2016.
Walsh Jennings has never lost a match at an Olympics, dropping just one set in an astonishing three appearances. And she and Ross are in sizzling form coming into the Games, medalling at all but one of their events in 2016, swooping gold at the Rio and Moscow Grand Slams and Fuzhou and Cincinnati Opens.
Despite being hampered by Walsh Jennings’ right shoulder dislocations at two events in 2015 (Moscow and Gstaad), the Americans still managed to place third on the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifying list.
Will it be gold number four for “Six feet of sunshine” Walsh Jennings on the sands of Copacabana?
