President Graça wishes all beach volleyball athletes "good luck"

 

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 5, 2016 - FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° wished all the beach volleyball athletes the best of luck on the eve of the beach volleyball competition at the RIo 2016 Olympic Games during the competition Technical Meeting at the Beach Volleyball Arena on Copacabana beach. 

All competing teams, athletes and referees were present and were provided an opportunity to raise any questions before the start of the beach volleyball competition.

Speaking to the attendees, FIVB President Graça said: “Beach volleyball is going to be a signature event in Rio and if you are here it means that you deserve to be here! Beach volleyball became part of the Olympic Programme in 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and it was a great success.

“The Olympic qualification process for Rio 2016 Olympic Games featured a record 169 nations. These Games will mark 20 years of beach volleyball in the Olympic Games and I have no doubt we will witness our best ever Olympic beach volleyball event.

The beach volleyball competition starts on Saturday with the first men’s match starting at 10:00 (local time) between Carambula/Ranghieri (ITA) against Doppler/Horst (AUT).
