Brink reviews the key battles for Rio 2016

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 11, 2016 – London 2012 Olympic Games gold medallist Julius Brink ran the rule over the Rio 2016 Olympic Games pools following the drawing of lots in Gstaad, Switzerland on Saturday, with the former beach volleyball star overly cautious of making too many predictions.

In the men's tournament the 2009 world champion sees Pool A as a tough group and also cites Lucean/Dalhausser's and Nicolai/Lupo's match in Pool C as a highlight, with the two teams having met last week in a sensational battle at the Gstaad Major, the Americans coming out on top in two sets.

But Pool D is the group that has got the 34-year-old Münster native excited.

"I can't say anything about that pool because that's the best pool I've seen so far,” he said. “The average playing level is pretty high and I'm going to watch all the matches in this pool."

As for the women’s side, it is also Pool D that had Brink enthusiastic about the Games.

"That's a tough Pool,” he said. “It's going to be a tough battle with Germany and Italy as well as with the Canadian girls"
